Shelter Animals Count with Equine Welfare Data Collective
On October 25, we teamed up with the Equine Welfare Data Collective (EWDC) to spotlight the critical role of data collection for horses, dogs, and cats. Featuring panelists Kelsey Buckley (Equine Welfare Data Collective), Emily Sanders (Equine Welfare Data Collective), Emily Stearns (American Horse Council), Mike Keiley (MSPCA), and Samantha Hill (Shelter Animals Count), our experts highlighted the importance of national data collection and its impact on the animal welfare industry.
Key Takeaways:
- Data as a Driver of Change: Understanding how data shapes insights at local, state, and national levels helps organizations implement more effective programming for the animals in their care.
- Equine vs. Dog and Cat Data: Key differences between equine data and traditional data for dogs and cats provide unique insights and require tailored approaches.
- Value of Submitting Data: Sharing your organization’s data contributes to industry-wide knowledge and can directly impact funding, resource allocation, and support for animal welfare programs.
- Bridging Knowledge Gaps: Collaborations between SAC and EWDC help fill gaps in the understanding of equine welfare and support better outcomes through informed decisions.
